Sunday night saw the village of Wyangala flood with people descending on Mat Morrison Oval for the traditional June long weekend bonfire night. The crowd numbers did not disappoint as hoards of people flocked through the gate with camp chairs and picnic blankets, leaving almost no vacant patches of grass to sit on. The night raised much needed funds for the community and people were happy to make their contribution.
Oli Statham entertained the audience while they gathered as close to the warmth of the flames as they could. Face painting, pop corn, fairy floss and a jumping castle kept the children occupied as parents relaxed by the large fire. The community bbq volunteers worked tirelessly to keep the hot sausage sandwiches on the move.
To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the annual celebrations, the entertainment was dialed up a notch with the fireworks display being one to remember. With the winter sky lighting up for over 20 mins, both young and old were captivated by the vibrant show.
The fun didn't stop at the pyrotechnics, with the crowd spilling over into the country club where a DJ kept the eager patrons up on their feet and entertained well into the night.
