Cate McCarthy’s new exhibition ‘Ways of Giving’ opens Sunday 27 July at 2pm at Cowra Micro Gallery.
In this exhibition the Yetholme based artist uses painting and sculpture to make sense of our multi layered world, how we as humans affect it and how it affects us.
“This country has mysterious ways of giving, whispering secrets, nurturing, teaching us to listen - to the modes of activity, the layering of this curious permanent flux we are immersed in,” Cate McCarthy says.
“The ziggurat or mountain represents the graves of her ancestors - the link between the sky and the earth. Their bones melt back into the earth, patterns and symbols emerge, and represent the ongoing process that grows us,” Cate McCarthy says.
Cate McCarthy is a contemporary Australian visual artist who works in painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking and performance installation.
Ways of Giving will be open 27 July to Sunday 17 August. Cowra Micro Gallery in on the Cowra Railway Station, open Saturdays and Sunday 10am-2.30pm.
