Cowra-based aged care provider Ability Network is calling out for volunteers to assist with the care of elder adults, and says it is more important now than ever for them to ensure the elder residents of Cowra are not lonely.

Marketing Co-ordinator Sharna Lord said the current COVID crisis in NSW was resulting in some elder adults being more lonely than ever, with lockdowns in parts of the state and other restrictions throughout the rest of NSW limiting visitation.

She said the purpose of her organization was to enhance individual ability through empowering older adults to remain living independently at home for longer, and it was seeking more volunteers to help carry out these services.

“Ability Network Aged Care Services provide an extensive range of services that are individually tailored that can meet your care needs now and in the future. Our passion is to keep older residents in their own home by providing professional care,” she said.

Ms Lord said there was no experience required to become a volunteer, but just a desire to connect with people that would benefit from their support.

“By giving some of your time, you will be helping older people to remain living independently in their own homes and to engage in meaningful social activities,” she said.

Current volunteer, Robyn, said it was a very rewarding position.

“My main goal in volunteering is to help give our Consumers what they need and for them to know they are valued,” she said.
