The Morongla Showground has secured its water source for future events at the facility, being granted $40,606 by the State Government last week.

The Morongla Creek Showground Land Manager, better known as the Morongla Showground Trust, will use the funding, part of the Showground Stimulus Program Round 2B, to install water bores and pumps.

It will be the first time the showground has had access to permanent water, with the village of Morongla not linked to town water supplies.

Morongla Showground Trust President David Langfield said the funding provided a massive boost for future events at the showground.

“We’ll be using the water mostly for drinking water for livestock. There is no access to permanent water for them currently, so we often run out of water,” he said.

“We’ll also be using the bores to pump water into the new RFS water tanks that will be installed here too.”

This is the second grant from the stimulus program with $12,893 previously announced to replace toilets with water efficient units, paint the interior of the main hall and ceiling of the supper room, replacement of fencing, and surface levelling and compacting around storage shed.

NSW Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke MP, said the upgrades would help all users of the showground.

“Having a secure water supply is vital so events can go ahead,” Ms Cooke said.

“I am so pleased this assistance is coming to Morongla Showground to ensure it is fit for the future and can continue to be enjoyed by both locals and visitors.”
