The Cowra Tourism has launched one of it’s most optimistic tourism campaigns yet, with the ‘Get Chris To Cowra’ campaign launched yesterday to try to attract actor Chris Hemsworth to town.

The official video for the campaign went live online on Tuesday locally, followed by a wider launch Australia-wide on Wednesday. The campaign has been launched to help put Cowra firmly on the map of Australia, but also to attract arguable Australia’s most famous Hollywood actor at the moment, in what would be a massive profile boost for Cowra.

“We’re running a new tourism campaign now that we’re out of lockdown in the effort to get Chris Hemsworth to Cowra and we’d like to get the locals involved to help promote our town,” said Cowra Tourism Corporation Manager Glenn Daley.

“Cowra Tourism has been working on a Top Secret project over the last few months that we hope will get significant uptake and coverage, and will promote the town and surrounds in a fun and positive way – We’re going to get Chris Hemsworth to Cowra! Well, we’re going to try anyhow...”

“We’re extremely excited to finally be able to launch this campaign and can’t wait to see the locals get behind it in support.” So why Chris Hemsworth?

Mr Daley said it was because he is the Australian Tourism Ambassador. He said it would be great for him to come and see Cowra and regional NSW.

A campaign website, www.getchristocowra.com.au, has also been set up, where people can sign an online petition to get Chris to visit Cowra, post messages to Chris, and even track sightings of him around town, photoshopped in images of local businesses.

“Apart from sharing our video, you can help us by using #GetChrisToCowra in your social media posts, and by placing signs in your shop and car windows,” Mr Daley said.
