Stability, Robustness Key to Local Gov Success

One of the great strengths in successful Local Government is stability based on open and robust discussions which lead to a collegiate voice.

I would be hoping to be reelected as part of that team and continue to contribute experience and energy to the benefit of the entire Shire community covering over approximately 2800sq km. Obviously there are many areas for Council to be very mindful of, including the role of a Councillor directly related to the relevant governing regulations or the appropriate expectations of the community around support and advocacy.

Being a glass half full person who likes to think of legacies I would be seeking to continue with the plans and programs currently in place whilst being very mindful that the new Council will have the responsibility of establishing their direction for the coming term.

As an example, continuing the CBD masterplan would be a focus. We have already expanded on this by delivering the $1.3 million grant via local state MP Steph Cooke to remediate the Target car park which was a major concern for the lessee (Target). We have also continued our support of the Cowra Business Chamber and the Cowra Tourism Corporation, which are great supporters of our retail sector.

We have also advocated for business activity (including K-Hub) and the Hospital redevelopment, as well as rural roads and our villages. There are a number of roles and initiatives designed to leave a positive footprint on the entire, beautiful Shire we call home.

Vote 1 – Bill West – Target
