Cricket Mental Health Workshop

Cowra District Junior Cricket Club has asked the question “What does it take to be the best you can be?” Which lead the club to partake in a mental health workshop for their female players which will be hosted at Mackillop College, Bathurst on Wednesday the 9th of August 2023, at 6pm.

The club has encouraged the Girls and parents involved within cricket and sport to attend the free face to face workshop designed specifically for 14- 19 girls. Alan Mantle will deliver a 2 hour workshop and give insight as a highly skilled Sport Psychology Consultant who works with the NSW and Australian players.

The workshop will cover the areas of mental health in sport including motivation, goal setting, self-belief, concentration, and anxiety control. All of these tools are important for progressing in the sporting industry and can be used in everyday situations.

This initiative has been highly recommended by parents of children within the sport with one parent saying;

“Fantastic presentation, my daughter and I loved it. We got so many valuable tips – thank you Alan and Cricket NSW”. Parent, Sydney.

Sticky Nightshade Info Day

Mandurama Hall is hosting a special information day on September 6th 2023 regarding Sticky Nightshade. Sticky Nightshade is an incredibly invasive plant that diminishes the ability for crop and pasture plants to thrive. The main objective for the information day is clear communication and cooperation between the different landowners that are impacted by Sticky Nightshade.

The council is hoping to get various proposals from government and private stakeholders including local and state government, landholders, contractors, and agronomists.

A Successful Jean For Genes Event For Cowra Information And Neighbourhood Centre

Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre (CINC) had an amazing morning at their Jeans for Genes Australia brunch on Friday the 4th of August.

The Cowra community came together to support such an incredible cause. The event was incredibly social with many people making new friends and reconnecting with old ones.Some very lucky attendees walked away with a bonus prize from the amazing raffle that was held on the day.

The CINC gave a Thank you to talented students from Cowra Public School DEC for coming and performing a show stopping signing number at the event.

Homeless Morning Tea

The sad reality of Homelessness and lack of affordable housing is a problem for many Australians in 2023. In a per-fect world the Cowra community would be exempt from the current cost of living crisis, but sadly it is not.

The amazing people at Catholic Care will be running a morning tea at 15 Vaux St Cowra on Wednesday 9th of August 2023. The Morning tea will be a great opportunity to learn more on what organisations are attempting to achieve regarding the homelessness in Cowra. Other service providers will be on site on the day to answer any questions regarding this topic.

Out Of The Dark Program

Out of the dark program Is a family violence support program for women which will be commencing on monday the 21st of August 2023 and running weekly until 18th september 2023 at 5 Vaux Street Cowra 9:30am-12pm

This incredible 6 week program aims to help women better understand family violence, make informed choices and regain control of their lives. During the program, educators will talk about; types of family violence, myths and facts, about power and control in abusive relationships, cycle of violence, AVOs and safety planning, recognising healthy relationships and the warning signs for unhealthy relationships, the impacts of family violence on children and finding help and support. After completion, the program attendees will receive a certificate to state their understanding and participation in the program.
