Cowra Newspapers Digitisation Project Launch

A special launch was be held at Cowra Library on Monday 28 June to celebrate the most recent round of transferring Cowra’s historic newspapers into an accessible digital format.

The project is a collaboration between Cowra Council, the National Library of Australia, the State Library of NSW and Central West Libraries aimed at opening up the vast resource of historical information which is contained in local newspapers.

Now anyone with internet access can have a look at the news of the day in the Cowra Guardian and Lachlan Agricultural Recorder between 1896 and 1907. Skip over to 1911 up until 1937 to look at the hot topics published by the Cowra Free Press.

By microfilming the original papers, then converting to a digital version, the information becomes accessible.

Letter To The Editor

Dear Editor,
Firstly, I would like to send my sincere thank you to Barney Robson of Canowindra, Tony Savage of Cowra and Julie and Ebony Neal of Canberra for their assistance in getting me out of my car safely during my car accident on the 30 May 2021. Without them, things could have been a lot worse.

Secondly, I want to send a massive thank you to the first responders who responded to my accident and who arrived very promptly and got me to Sydney quickly for medical treatment. We are blessed to have such amazing emergency service workers in this region.

Thirdly, I would like to send my sincere thoughts and gratitude to everyone who has sent well wishes and support to me and my family. It has not gone unnoticed and has been very appreciated in this hard time. Lastly, thank you to Canowindra Hospital and our amazing local doctors for the treat-ment I have received since returning home from Sydney.
