The quality of entries highlighted the talent across the Cowra region.

The Recycle Art For Cowra Awards (RAFCA) fun and awards day took place outside the Civic Centre on Sunday the 17th of September.

The goal of RAFCA is to produce art using recycled materials. Every year, the competition has a distinct subject and a variety of awards are given out. This year’s theme was ‘Dreaming: Stories and Legends’.

There was a diverse range of quality entries from schools, community groups and individuals showcasing the artistic talent of the region.

‘Tiddalik the frog’ by Nettie’s Family Day Care was the winner of the Preschool section.

The Infants section was won by Cowra Public School for ‘Bugbug the owl’ and Skye Fagan won the Primary Individual section for her ‘Trojan Horse’ creation.

Laura Price was the winner of Best In Show with her ‘My Pet Dragon’ sculpture.

Mulyan Public School’s Yadhandah class were the winners of the Mark’s Pumps All Ability division for ‘Tiddalick’.

St. Raphael’s Laura Bennett won first prize in the Junior High section for ‘Hogwarts’ while the Senior section first prize went to Cowra High School’s Jaz Dunlop for ‘Immortal Jellyfish’.

Cowra Shire Council Deputy Mayor, Judi Smith, said, “This year saw an incredible influx of entries from talented artists across Cowra. The enthusiasm and creativity on display were truly inspiring, and it’s heartening to see the community come together in celebration of recycled art.”

“We are grateful to all participants, sponsors, and supporters who have contributed to making this year’s event a resounding success.” Acr1853305534464-2075368IMAGE: The incredible artists showing off their beautiful artwork.
