Local first aid retailer and instructor Samantha Sculthorpe is planning to start fundraising to get a 24 hour accessible Automatic External Defibrillator installed on the main street in Cowra.

Having recently opened her business, First Aid Awareness And Training on Macquarie Street, she said she had been in contact with Wiggles legend Greg Page to start working on the concept.

Mr Page founded his organisation Heart Of The Nation, which he established after suffering a heart attack while performing in January 2020.

It works on identifying the locations of AEDs in communities across Australia, stating its importance on its website, and that AEDs increase the chance of surviv-al of cardiac arrest by around 300%. It also encourages businesses across Australia to invest in an AED.

Local businesses with AEDs can register their business with HOTN so they can be searched for by the public when an AED is needed for first aid in the area.

Samantha said in addition to planning a future fundraiser for a main street AED, she also encouraged all local businesses with an AED to register it with HOTN. “To register your business, all you need to do is scan the HOTN ‘Champion’ QR code, which adds them to the HOTN app so people can quickly and easily locate the nearest AED,” she said.

If your business has an AED, please contact Samantha on 0430 122 121 or email firstaidawarenessandtraining@outlook.com.
