New Tourism Manager for Cowra
New Cowra Tourism Corporation Manager, Glen Daley, says his number one focus is getting more visitors to Cowra, after starting in the role earlier this month.
Mr Daley commenced duties on February 8, taking over from Belinda Virgo, who will be fare welling Cowra at the end of this week. He said that the job provided him with a great opportunity to engage with the Cowra community and to promote it outside of the shire.
“My personal mandate is to bring more money to Cowra,” he said. Mr Daley grew up in Cowra, and returned to the town around 5 years ago after living in various locations up and down the east coast.
He has worked as a photographer in and around Cowra since his return, and said his new job was an opportunity to “marry up” the skills he already had in promoting Cowra through his photography work.
“I also saw it as an opportunity to bring in the skills I have from previous corporate positions, and build on all of the amazing work that Belinda has done as well,” he said.
He said he planned to work very closely with the local business community, and would start looking at more ways to promote Cowra.
He said he also had a focus on connecting Cowra with adjoining regions, as well as setting up new events, and satellite events to complement existing events and give visitors to those more to do while in town. “I’ll be working on a strategic plan for marketing,” he said.
Mr Daley said he wanted to continue working closely with neighbouring towns and villages, such as Canowindra, Woodstock, Gooloogong and Grenfell.
He said he was excited to be in the position, and looked forward to the challenges that lay ahead.
