New Kitchen Opens At Services Club
The Cowra Services Club has unveiled its state-of-the-art new kitchen, in a project that Manager Lloyd Garratt said was long overdue.
The club’s bistro reopened after a nearly three month break last Friday, with the first meals going out of the brand new kitchen that day.
The renovation started on January 4 and has brought the kitchen in line with the modern style of the auditorium, bar and gaming areas that had already been renovated over the last few years.
Mr Garratt said that the kitchen hadn’t been touched in around 40 years, and the new one would enhance the way his kitchen staff go about their work. “It features a pizza oven and a char grill, but the whole kitchen has been totally renovated, including all other machinery, walk-in refrigerators and freezers,” he said.
“We have launched a brand new menu, and there will be daily specials, and possibly down the track, food theme nights as well.”
Mr Garratt said the renovation was valued at around $1million and was one of the final pieces of the puzzle to fully revamp the club.
“My next goal is to look at the Falcon Room the next time we consider further improvements,” he said.
The renovation was completed by Paynter Dixon architects, and came not too long after the club hired its current Head Chef, Ankit Mathur.
Mr Mathur is joined in the kitchen by sous chefs Basheer Shaikh and Grant Howie. Mr Garratt said they had done a tremendous job bringing their own style to the kitchen.
“They bring a uniqueness to the kitchen, and are able to cook all varieties of foods,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Services Club is holding its annual Easter raffle this Thursday night, with 40 prizes on offer. Tickets will be available to purchase from 6pm.
