Lodge Cowra (Cowra Masonic Lodge) has donated $6000 to the Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre, with most funds to go towards equipment purchases.

Secretary of Lodge Cowra, Richard Bourne, said CINC was a very worthy recipient of the funds because “they do great work in the community”.

Lodge Cowra normally makes a donation to charitable organisations in Cowra every six months, but due to the effects of the pandemic over the last two years, its donation to CINC took three years.

Most of Lodge Cowra’s fundraising is via their barbeques at Bunnings, and once it decides it has enough funds to make a donation, it’s members select a community organisation to donate to.

Mr Bourne said Masonic Care, the national body connected to the Masonic Lodge, supported Lodge Cowra in its donation as well.

“Masonic Care generously matched our donation of $3000 and contributed another $3000, which allowed us to donate $6000,” he said.

CINC Manager Fran Stead said the funds would be spread, but most would be spent on equipment purchases for its afternoon program.

“We’ll be using this generous donation to purchase a trampoline and other equipment, but also to go towards our community luncheons and the upcoming Christmas Festival,” she said.

Lodge Cowra has now injected over $20,000 into the local community over the last several years.
