The National Party have held the federal seat of Riverina for 40 years, but Cowra local Pennie Scott is putting her hand up to contest the seat at next year’s Federal Election.

The current Member for Riverina, and former National Party and Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack, has been the incumbent for 11 years, but Pennie plans to challenge the seat by advocating for a “Regenerated Riverina”.

Her campaign will focus on climate change action and the functionality of the Murray-Darling basin, as well as landscapes, society and communities, local economies, an equitable and ho-listic recovery from Covid, and generat-ing meaningful, “emotional and resilient connections between us all.”

“This is why I am standing,” she said. “The time for bullying party politics is over. I am dedicated to serving the people of the Riverina.” “Together, we will envision and create the world we want, making decisions with the next ten generations in mind. As your Independent candidate I’m also a facilitator and enabler.”
