Cowra local Frances Woodbridge started her 800km journey on horseback from Cowra to Melbourne last Thursday, as part of a two month ride that will see her raise funds for children’s charity Little Wings.

Frances is being accompanied by husband Brian, granddaughter Alanna and friend Karen Cave, with the group leaving Cowra at 12pm on Thursday, riding down the main street and over the bridge.

They are due to arrive in Melbourne on the 10th November. Little Wings is a non-profit organization that provides free, professional and safe flight and ground transport services for seriously ill children in rural and regional NSW and ACT.

It strives to ease the journey and help sick children access specialised medical services and treatments that are only available in major cities or towns.

Frances has been riding her entire life. Frances reached out to Little Wings in August wanting to help the organisation and she pitched her idea.

“I am riding with my friend Karen Cave, 7yr old granddaughter and husband Brian with car support. Anyone is welcome to join us on any stage of the journey,” she said.

“I strongly believe in supporting communities and people supporting each other. I believe in the healing power of horses and I get much joy out of seeing the smiles on people’s faces when they see a horse come through their town”. Little Wings CEO Clare Pearson said she was grateful and honoured to be Frances’ chosen charity for this amazing adventure.

We wish Frances all the best and look forward to following her journey,” she said.
