It’s Christmas at Club Cowra. The club supported 20 local businesses as part of its Christmas raffle last Saturday night.

Twenty local retailers have been given a generous boost in the lead up to Christmas, with Club Cowra purchasing vouchers from them to use in its annual Christmas raffle last Saturday night.

The event was a major success, with hundreds of locals turning out at the club to try their luck and hope their name got called out for one of the prizes.

Prizes included gif vouchers at the 20 stores, as well as $1000 and $2000 cash prizes.

Gift voucher values varied between $10 and $200.

Participating businesses included:

  • Style for Women
  • Unearthed Homewares
  • Studio 36A
  • French’s Store
  • Bushman’s Boots and all
  • Fork in the River
  • Relish
  • Kendal Street Newsagency
  • Superb Jewellery
  • Cowboy Guns and Gear
  • Nangar Gems
  • Shoes for You
  • Sportspower
  • Bloom Flower Studio
  • Jedabella Fashion
  • Kilby’s Heating and Cooling

Club Cowra Operations Manager Marc McLeish said it was a great way to support local business.

“It’s the first time we’ve done it this way. Previously they were all cash prizes,” he said.

“Businesses had the opportunity to top up their vouchers as well. It will help drive more people into their stores and keep locals shopping locally this Christmas.” Local business owner and winner of the major prize, Joshua Matic, said the initiative was testament to Club Cowra’s focus on being a community club for Cowra.

“It’s a fantastic initiative by the club. As a local business owner myself, I know how important it is to have support for our local, small businesses, and this is what the club has done.”

As a result of the raffle several thousand dollars is expected to be spent locally this Christmas.

With people tending to spend more in a store they have a gift voucher for, this figure could prove to be even higher.
