Cowra local Linda Jonkers will be riding in the 2022 Tour de Cure (TDC) Signa-ture Tour to raise funds for cancer. The ride starts in Geelong on Friday March 11, and will see riders cycle 1,445 km before finishing in Canberra on March 19.

152 riders and support crew from Tour de Cure are aiming to raise $2 million, through their individual fundraising efforts over the last 12 months. This money will go to fund cancer research, support and prevention projects Australia-wide.

As part of the tour, the team will fund 8 different cancer grants of $10,000 to the local communities they pass through to help support those affected by cancer in these regions. The Tour de Cure will roll into Young on Thursday March 17. The Cancer Council in Young will be one of those community recipients.

Linda said she has been busy running a variety of fundraising events starting with a morning tea in Wombat, a Christmas raffle, a music afternoon at Woodstock Hotel, an endurance ride weekend at Woodstock and collecting Return & Earn containers.

“I am very grateful to everyone who has contributed to my fundraising efforts so far,” she said.

Donations can still be made via https://tourdecure.grassrootz.com/signature-tour-2022/linda-jonkers until the end of March.
