On Saturday 1 May, Cowra Gun Club held their monthly competition in perfect conditions. One of the highlights of the afternoon, was the awarding of Life Membership to Joy Dwight who has given many years of tireless service to the Club and it was with a great deal of pride that this honour was bestowed on Joy with her daughter, Marilyn in attendance. Joy thanked the Club but also encouraged the younger members to the sport to take on administrative positions as it is very rewarding, and you only get out of the sport what you contribute.

The afternoon’s program featured three events in recognition of past long-serving members of the club – the Noel Dwight Memorial Pointscore Championship, the Dick Toshack Memorial Champion of Champions and the Mick Sinclair Memorial Handicap.

The first event, the Noel Dwight Memorial Pointscore Championship, was won by 83 year old Robert Churchill from Canberra with the exceptional score of 84/84. You have set the bar very high, Robert. Congratulations. Second event, the Dick Toshack Memorial Champion of Champions was taken out by local competitor, Tony O’Leary with the only possible score of 125/125. Perfect shooting Tony.

Our last event for the afternoon, the Mick Sinclair Memorial Handicap was won by another veteran, Ray Schiller from Young with the only possible of 25/25. The overall High Gun was taken out by Mark Dutton from Wellington with the magnificent score of 221/225.
