Cowra Shire Council Candidate Ian Docker says he will focus on generating more business and tourism for Cowra should he be elected to Council on December 4.

Mr Docker brings with him a mountain of experience, having spent the last two years as the President of the Cowra Rotary Club, as well as many more years as a Rotary member that have seen him actively involved in the Cowra community for a long time.

He is also a businessman, owning and operating Cladding Australia, and he previously ran a large plastics company. He said he felt his experiences would make him a genuine council candidate that could bring extra business and tourism to the shire.

“I believe my experience is needed on Council, and I’m at a good age where I can remain on Council and run again at future elections,” he said.

Mr Docker has a number of ideas he’d like to see Council implement, including advertising campaigns to attract more businesses and tourists to Cowra, the installation of CCTV to protect business premises in town, and Council providing further assistance to charitable organisations in the shire.

“I want our shire to be better promoted to attract businesses to come here and set themselves up, but I also want to see existing businesses expanding their operations here, and for Council to make that process as simple as possible for them,” he said.

“I’d also like to see our Japanese Garden, Peace Bell and Peace Precinct given a bigger push for our tourism.”

“Security cameras around Cowra will help deter vandalism around our precincts. The audio system at the POW Camp exhibit has been damaged twice in the past.”
