Cowra Eisteddfod Vice President Jan Munday says the committee feels like this year’s event was a huge success, after it concluded with its grand finale last Saturday night.

The event returned after a year’s break due to COVID-19 last year, and some categories broke registration records, with a number of days needing to be added to the schedule this year.

The event ran for three weeks in total, and culminated in the Grand Concert of Prizewinners, which featured winners of various categories from the Eisteddfod. Categories at this year’s Eisteddfod included vocals, speech drama, group dancing, solo dancing and instrumentals.

Jan said the event felt like a great come-back after COVID-19 prevented the event from running last year.

“It was great to see all of the families, individuals and groups together again to perform on stage,” she said.

“All in all the event was a huge success this year and it was wonderful to be back.”

Acts at the Grand Concert included Hol-mwood Public School, Toby Gough and Harry Morrissey, Cowra Dance Factory, Baby Dance, Hugh Reynolds, Samson Miller, Oscar Wu, Jackson Hughes, Kiera Donavon, Them and Us, Cowra Ballet School Skit, Nathan Byron, Cowra Ballet School Combined Torsion, Toby Gough, Zoe Budge, Jussi Jenssen, Claudia Hiran, Ashleigh Saunders, Mia Cachia, and Silent Monks.

Samson Miller, Zoe Budge and Ashleigh Saunders represented Cowra on the night. Samson took out the Farleigh Junior Vocal Scholarship, Zoe the Joan Ford Trophy, and Ashleigh the Weir Trust Local Performing Arts Scholarship.

Significant award winners from the Eisteddfod included Oscar Wu, who won the intermediate instrumental championship playing the violin, and Jussi Jenssen, who won the Delaney Instrumental/Piano Scholarship, and well as the Fagan Instrumental Recital Championship.
