Ability Network Chairperson Natalie Caruana said last Wednesday’s Disability Expo was a huge success in providing a one-stop shop for all disability services in Cowra and surrounds.

It was the first ever expo targeted at disability services held in Cowra, with numerous service providers hosting stalls and providing information to locals in need of their services. Ms Caruana said it was all about individuals finding the right provider for their needs.

“It can be challenging to people to find the right service, and the ‘one-stop shop’ concept of the expo was designed to make it easier for them,” she said.

“There’s a great value in being able to talk to the service providers face to face.” “Some people need multiple service providers as well.”

The event was supported by many service providers across areas such as accommodation, respite, equipment, government agencies, NDIS, health conditions, as well as support for carers. Local paramedics were also on hand with an ambulance display.

Ms Caruana thanked all the volunteers that made the event possible.

“We were supported by the Rotary Club, CWA and Taronga Zoo with a giveaway,” she said.

“We had many other individual volunteers as well that we’re greatly appreciative of.”
