First Aid Awareness and Training is ready to officially open its doors this Friday, providing what owner Samantha Sculthorpe believes to be a critical service to Cowra.

The business, located at 44 Macquarie Street, Cowra, will not only provide first aid resources and host courses in-store, but will also provide resources, services and courses on first aid directly to businesses on-site, allowing businesses to upskill their employees in first aid, and ensure their first aid kits are up to date. Courses on offer include Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Provide First Aid, Provide First Ai IN An Education Setting, Provide Advanced First Aid, Mums and Bubs First Aid, Comply With Infection Prevention And Control Policies And Procedures, Kids Basic First Aid, Rural And Remote First Aid, and Certificate III Individual Support (aged and disability care).

The business will also stock a wide range of first aid kits, automated external defibrillators and PPE gear, with first aid kits ranging in size and stock from values of $20 to $200.

Samantha, who has lived in Cowra for six years and been running first aid courses in Cowra for a while now, said she decided to set up her own business to provide a family friendly space to train locals in first aid.

“The space became available and I thought ‘it’s now or never’”, she said. “We offer all first aid related courses and can offer refresher courses too, which is mostly recommended every three years.”

Samantha said she expected her first aid courses in first aid in rural settings, for mums and bubs and for kids to be of particular interest.

She said the kids course was to train kids themselves to perform basic first aid, to ensure they knew what to do in an emergency situation.

She said she would also be running her rural first aid courses on site in a rural setting.

“First Aid in remote locations can be different to in-town, so we tailor it to this, and we will be using realistic manikins that can bleed,” she said.

“We also offer first aid kits tailored to rural, remote and outback settings that provide resources for those scenarios”. The shop will be open on Mondays, and by appointment and for courses on other days.

Samantha can also travel to other sites and businesses to run courses and complete first aid kit checks and restocking. To book her in, phone 0430 122 121 or email firstaidawarenessandtraining@outlook.com.
