Emma Butler Memorial Wresting Show Set For March
IMAGE: Cowra Mayor Bill West declares Cowra local James Lanham, AKA High Octane, the winner of a match at a previous ICW Central West event held in Cowra. ICW will be back in town next March in aid of tongue and mouth cancer, in memoriam of Lanham’s partner Emma Butler.

Cowra will play host to the ICW Central Western Warfare 5 “Emma Butler Memorial Show” next March, a charity event in support of research into tongue and mouth cancer.

The event is being organised by local James Lanham, whose partner Emma Butler, tragically lost a battle with tongue cancer in February.

Mr Lanham, known in the wrestling ring as ‘High Octane’, is a wrestler himself, and decided to organise the fundraiser event in Cowra in aid of research and early detection of tongue and mouth cancer.

“All proceeds are going towards the family’s registered charity, and that will be every single cent made from ticket sales,” he said.

So far nine matches have been confirmed for the event, with Mr Lanham to enter the ring himself.

Other competitors will be coming from all over Australia to support the event as well.

Most matches will be one-on-one, however there will also a tag team (two v two) match and a last man standing match. The event will follow World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) rules, with matches to end on submission (tap out) or pin fall (both shoulders held on the ground for three seconds).

There will be both male and female competitors.

“It will be a PG , family-friendly event with no sexism or course language, so I’d encourage everyone to buy tickets once available,” Mr Lanham said.

Mr Lanham also thanked Cowra Council, who have donate $1000 towards the event.

It will be held at the Cowra Civic Centre, with tickets to be made available through the Civic Centre early next year.
