Cowra Shire Council Supports Aero Club With Access Incentive Scheme Grant
Cowra Shire Council is delighted to announce that the Cowra Aero Club, is the most recent recipient of the Access Incentive Scheme Grant.
The Cowra Aero Club received over $7,000 from the Access Incentive Scheme Grant, enabling their bathroom facilities to meet Australian accessibility compliance standards.
This latest development has played a crucial role in enhancing the club’s inclusivity. These additions ensure that the facilities are accessible to all community members, reflecting Cowra Shire Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting local organisations and promoting accessibility.
“The new accessible bathroom facilities will greatly benefit members and visitors, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the amenities of the Cowra Aero Club,” Chair of the Access Advisory Committee, Cr Nikki Kiss OAM said.
“The Access Incentive Scheme Grant provides funding to assist local businesses, community organisations, and community service providers in improving access to and within their premises for people with disabilities. The program offers funding of up to $10,000 for various projects,” said Nikki.
These include:
- Automated access doors and widening of doorways;
- Access ramps and lifts;
- Handrails and fit-outs;
- Tactile indicators and signage;
- Auditory aids and visual assistance, such as doorway contrasting, braille, and tactile signage.
“Applications for the Access Incentive Scheme Grant are open year-round, with only one application per premises accepted each year. We encourage all organisations to make use of these grants and apply,” said Cr Kiss.
