After recent renovations, the new look Cowra library is proving very popular with locals.

Cowra Library is thrilled to reopen this week following an extensive transformation funded by the State Library’s Public Library Infrastructure Grant program. The library received a generous grant of $276,662, which has been used to revamp the space, making it more inviting and resourceful for the community.

Cowra Branch Librarian, Terry Mills-Edward, expressed her excitement about the reopening and the new renovations, saying, “We are ecstatic to welcome our community back to the library. These improvements will greatly enhance the library experience for all our patrons.” “Cowra Library had been temporarily closed since Monday, October 9, to allow for the renovation work to take place. During this time, Cowra Council and Central West Libraries staff worked tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare the library for its grand reopening.”

The newly transformed library boasts modern bookshelves, fresh carpeting, and updated signage, providing a more comfortable and user-friendly environment for visitors. These changes are set to make the library an even more appealing place to explore, discover, and enjoy a wide range of literary and informational resources.

“Notably, becoming a library member is now also easier than ever, and it’s absolutely free!”

Cowra Library also prides itself on offering a hassle-free experience, with no late fees for overdue items.

With an extensive and diverse collection, the library has something for everyone, from board books, picture books and easy readers for young children, to youth fiction, adult fiction large print, and a wide range of fact books. The library also offers 24/7 access to audiobooks, E-books, magazines, and movie streaming.

“The library is equipped with computers, a printer, and free Wi-Fi, providing an excellent space for learning and research,” said Terry.

“Libraries are not just places to borrow books; they are essential community resources that transform lives and communities. Central West Library Cowra is passionately committed to lifelong learning and serves as a valuable community space for Cowra residents.”

Cowra Library’s first author event will feature the entertaining and bestselling author of “The Tea Ladies,” Amanda Hampson, on Monday, November 13, at 10:30 am. Everyone in the community is welcome to attend and hear about her exciting crime series. Please book on Eventbrite or call the library on 6340 2180.
