The Cowra Bowling Club was bursting at the seams Saturday evening with punters piling in, eagerly awaiting the Calcutta action.

Patrons were lucky to find a seat as people prepared their bids and hoped to catch the famous Big Marn (Daryl Brohman) as he made his way around the club.

He stopped by most, if not all the tables and had a yarn with the locals.

The auditorium didn’t take long to fill up as punters took their position for the draw followed by the main event.

Technical difficulties didn’t put a damper on the proceedings as Dave Stanley’s iconic voice projected throughout the club.

Daryl took to the mic to thank Cowra for welcoming him. “I love country people” The Big Marn said.

“I have enjoyed the day and I’m looking forward to (the Cowra Cup) tomorrow.” After igniting laughter in the crowd with his humorous jokes he tried his hand at drawing the tickets from the barrel.

It was announced that 10% of the total pool was being donated to Ronald McDonald House with the Cowra Jockey Club and Cowra Bowling Club matching the donation.

The donation totaled over $2000, inspiring an applause from the crowd. Dave Stanley introduced Legendary country race caller Col Hodges who generously called a phantom race with his prediction for Sunday in magnificent fashion.

The auction kicked off with hands flinging in the air as punters opened their wallets with the highest bid reaching over $3000.
