The success of Cowra businesses over the last year has been recognised by Business NSW, with eleven Cowra businesses and business representatives names as finalists for the 2021 Western NSW Business Awards.

Joanne Treasure and Tiffany Kent have been recognised in the Outstanding Employee Award category, while Brotherfox Barbershop’s Marc Grant is a finalist in the Outstanding Young Business Leader category, and The Salon Collective’s Alicia Ball is in the running for Outstanding Business Leader. Café Ruze will compete for Excellence in Micro-Business, while both the Cowra Veterinary Centre and The Salon Collective are in the mix for Excellence in Small Business. The Cowra Show Society and Cowra Youth Council have been selected for Outstanding Community Organisation, and Brotherfox Barbershop and State Conveyancing NSW will go for Outstanding Start-up.

Vicki Seccombe, Regional Manager – Western NSW, at Business NSW, said this year’s finalists represent a fantastic cross section of businesses from right across the region.

“It’s been an incredibly tough number of years for many businesses due to Covid, drought, bushfires and mouse plagues, so these awards are a wonderful opportunity to showcase the ingenuity, strength and resilience of Western NSW businesses,” said Ms Seccombe.

Ms Seccombe said while there will be no gala event this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, all finalists would still be recognised in some way.

“When we launched these Awards earlier in the year, we hadn’t expected we would be dealing with the current lockdown and were planning a Gala Event to be held Orange in September,” she said.

“We will be pivoting to an online Awards event and will shortly be advising our finalists with a new date and format.”
