Cowra Bowling Club General Manager Marc Eisenhauer says the club is fully focussed on supporting career paths for local youth, after promoting two of its staff to managerial roles.

James Kirwan and Ellie Garlick have been promoted, with Mr Kirwan becoming a manager at the club, and Ms Garlick taking the newly created position of Community Relationship Manager.

Mr Eisenhauer said the club saw an opportunity to expand its management team and chose to fill the roles by creating career paths for its own young employees.

“Too many young people leave Cowra to chase careers, and in the club industry, there are many career paths that young people can follow, and we want to make sure we provide those opportunities,” he said.

Mr Kirwan has worked at the club for six years and has now been in his Manager role for nine months.

He said the club was a “great” club to work for.

“I’m really enjoying the role. I started behind the bar and worked my way up. I’m interested in a career in administration, and it’s a rewarding club to work for. It’s been great seeing it grow so much,” he said. Ms Garlick has worked at the club for two and a half years and started in her new role last week.

“I’m looking forward to entering the community and attending events outside of the club,” she said.

Mr Eisenhauer said the creation of Ms Garlick’s role would help the club further engage with the community and support local groups with its sponsorship program.
