With over 60 percent of Cowra residents receiving their first vaccination and over 30 percent fully vaccinated, community leaders are urging residents to keep up the momentum, roll up their sleeves and do their part for our community.

“I applaud everyone who has answered the call so far, and acknowledge the tremendous job our local health professionals are undertaking to roll out vaccinations to our residents,” Mayor of Cowra, Cr Bill West said.

“Council is actively supporting vaccination efforts by making the Cowra Civic Centre available as a venue for the Cowra Respiratory Vaccination Clinic run by the Cowra Medical Associates, who moved their clinic to the Civic Centre today.

“Council is also worked with other agencies in providing traffic management for last week’s important pop-up vaccination clinics at the Cowra Showground and I acknowledge the tireless work being undertaken behind the scenes by Council staff, police and local emergency agencies in these difficult times to keep our community going.”

“Getting vaccinated is one of the most important things we can do for the health of our community, so please don’t hesitate. The data that is now available about the value of vaccination is compelling,” Cr West said.

Officer in Charge of Cowra Police and Local Emergency Operations Controller, Inspector Adam Beard joined Cr West in encouraging the community to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“The total number of vaccines administered in NSW is now more than 6.5 million and in Cowra, over 8000 vaccines have been given. We want all those who haven’t yet come forward to do so, particularly residents from our Shire villages and outlying areas. A vaccination against COVID-19 is the best way to protect yourself, your family and your community,” Inspector Beard said.
