CINC Opens On Stewart Street
The Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre has officially opened its new Stewart Street premises, unlocking a massive opportunity for disability services in Cowra.
While CINC will be retaining its current head office at 11 Vaux Street, it will be using 8 Stewart Street to run its disability early intervention and day programs. The programs it runs will all be certified under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), and CINC Manager Fran Stead said the focus would be on quality, and not quantity.
“We’ll be working with small groups of no more than 12 people so we can strive to achieve the goals of the individuals,” she said.
The day programming will target 7-16 year olds, and will be run by fully qualified and trained facilitators, which Fran said gave CINC choice and control over its programming.
She said that the establishment of the new premises and programs it will offer had taken a lot of preparation.
“Our staff have completed key worker training,” she said.
“We took time to understand the NDIS. We’ll be sticking to the core elements of what CINC can offer in disability, so whilst that is not all forms of disability care, we’ll be taking a lot of care in our early intervention and day programs.”
The day programs will run every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Stewart Street premises also features a swimming pool, and Fran said CINC would be able to run disability swimming lessons too.
The facility will also be open to other organisations that wish to hire it.
