It is now the season to be festive, and the Cowra Business Chamber has launched its annual Cowra Christmas Cash Giveaway to help support local businesses after what has been a tough year of COVID-restrictions.

Previously known as the Cowra Christmas Cracker, the Cowra Christmas Cash Giveaway will function in a similar way, and is again running in conjunction with the Cowra Tourism Corporation’s annual Christmas Festival.

The promotion features a draw that customers who spend at least $20 at a participating business are eligible to enter. All they need to do is scan the QR code at that business and enter their details in the web form to enter the draw.

While winners are normally drawn at the Christmas Festival, they will be drawn over three separate weeks this year due to the down-sized version of the festival this year, forced by COVID-restrictions. Two $1000 Cowra Cash Cards, eight $500 Cowra Cash Cards, and five $250 Cowra Cash Cards will be drawn on Friday 3/12/21, Friday 10/12/21, and Monday 20/12/21.

Cowra Business Chamber Secretary Grace Williams said the initiative was all about shopping local.

“Shoppers go into the draw to win a lot of very well valued prizes, so it really is a great incentive to support local businesses,” she said.

With Cowra Cash Cards only being able to be used at businesses in Cowra, the prizes themselves will also be a tool of supporting local businesses and injecting much-needed cash into the local economy.

Ms Williams also thanked Cowra Shire Council for their ongoing support of the initiative and for coming on board as a partner once again this year.

There are 44 businesses participating in this year’s program, with some participating in late night shopping on Thursday 9/12/21 and Thursday 16/12/21. Ms Williams said not all businesses participating in the program were opening for late night shopping, and encouraged them to seriously consider doing so.

“It’s a great opportunity to get more people in local businesses and spending more money here in the lead up to Christmas,” she said.
