As the Canberra Day Long Weekend came and went, Cowra was flooded with visitors from the ACT coming to the region to enjoy our stunning views, rich history & heritage, delicious food & wine, action-packed events, and boutique retail offerings.

The weekend saw several fantastic events take place across the region, including the Cowra Twilight Tens Tournament, Canowindra Live Music Fundraiser, Woodstock Speedway Practice Day, live music at the Railway Hotel and Lachlan Valley Hotel, and the Cowra Railway Station Open Day & Antique Vehicle Display, among many more.

One such business that benefitted from the influx of visitors from the ACT was the Cowra Van Park which was at full capacity over the weekend. “We were amazed by the amount of wonderful guests we had visit Cowra Van Park over the weekend” said Cowra Van Park Manager Stacey Barrett. “With many visitors travelling from Canberra and across NSW, it’s fantastic to see so many people out and about supporting our local businesses”.

Over the past few weeks, Cowra Tourism has been running a promotional campaign encouraging residents of the ACT to ‘Escape to Cowra’ for the Canberra Day Long Weekend, featuring local attractions, restaurants & cafes, accommodation options and events.

“I’d like to thank all the local businesses and community groups that really got on board with us this weekend” said Cowra Tourism Manager Glenn Daley. “Our mission is to continue engaging with our locals to help them leverage off of the boost in visitation that occasions like the Canberra Day Long Weekend bring” he continued. “This just goes to show the impact that locals can have when working together, the Cowra Visitor Centre alone saw close to 600 people through the doors over the course of the weekend, many of them coming from the ACT”. Cowra Tourism encourages local business, as well as sporting and community groups to get in touch with them at the Cowra Visitor Information Centre, over the phone on 02 6342 4333, or via email at manager@cowratourism.com.au to discuss how to make the most out of tourism in the Cowra region.
