Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre Manager Fran Stead says its new disability bus has already made a huge difference to its services, after it received the finished bus two weeks ago.

The new bus, which has been custom built to fit either 11 non-wheelchair passengers or two wheelchair passengers, was funded by an incredible donation of $97,000 by the Cowra Bowling Club.

The bus was ordered locally through Cowra Toyota, and was sign-written in Cowra too. Ms Stead said the bus gave CINC’s disability services in Cowra more opportunities.

“We’re now able to pick up our clients in wheelchairs and take them to where they need to go, whether that be our Stuart Street premises, where we run our disability services, or excursions,” she said.

“It opens up what we can offer to Cowra. There’s now no need for people to arrange their own transport, or for us to use multiple cards for the same trip.” The bus can be driven be any CINC staff member with a c-class licence. Cowra Bowling Club Manager Marc Eisenhauer said the club’s ability to support CINC stemmed from its members supporting the club.

“It’s all about the members and patrons of the club, and we couldn’t support community organisations like CINC without their support of the club,” he said. “Donations like this are what clubs should be all about across the board - supporting their community and local causes.”

“Our members and patrons know exactly where their money goes by spending it with us, and that’s straight back into the community.”
