Biz Award Nominations Open

Cowra Business Chamber President Jordan Core at the re-launch of the Chamber’s “Business After 5” last Wednesday night.

The nominations for this year’s Cowra Business Chamber Awards are now open, with President Jordan Core encouraging locals to nominate businesses, business leaders, employees, and community groups from across the shire.

Nominators will have much more time to cast their nominations this year, with the awards gala dinner being pushed back to Saturday May 1. In previous years it has been in February.

Mr Core said this would allow more nominations to be received.

“There are more categories for people to nominate their favourite businesses, community groups, and business individuals this year, so please go to www.cowrabusinesschamber.com.au/awards and submit your nominations now,” he said.

The awards will be structured differently this year, but Mr Core said this would allow more local businesses to be represented than ever before.

The categories for businesses in the 2021 awards are Excellence in Innovation, Out-standing Employer of Choice, Excellence in Retail & Personal Services, Excellence in Professional Services, Excellence in Trade, Construction and Manufacturing, Excellence in Hospitality and Tourism, Excellence in Rural Services.

Categories for individuals are Outstanding Young Employee, Outstanding Young Entrepreneur, Outstanding Business Leader, and the Cowra Business Chamber Honours Roll.

There are two categories for community groups – Community Group of the Year for volunteer-run organisations, and the same for organisations with any number of paid employees.

Meanwhile, the Chamber re-launched its social networking events after a year off due to COVID-19, with “Business After 5” returning at Morgan Insurance last Wednesday.

The Chamber will be hosting an important event around local inter-net and telecommunications at the Cowra Bowling on March 11, and will also be welcoming important business leaders from New Zealand companies at the Cowra Festival of International Understanding on March 27.
