Having recently taken out the Trainee of the Year category at the Western NSW Regional Training Awards, Cowra local Olivia Barsley will now be representing the community at next Thursday’s (11 September) NSW Training Awards in Sydney.

In the automotive field, Olivia was awarded Trainee of the Year for her dedication to learning, strong technical skills, exceptional customer service and collaboration while working in agricultural sales at Hutcheon and Pearce.

As an apprentice parts sales interpreter, Olivia quickly grasped the complexities of working in parts sales and approaches her training with eagerness and a proactive mindset.

Now a qualified parts interpreter, she enjoys working in the agricultural automotive machinery space helping customers find solutions.

She will now competes against the state’s most accomplished vocational education and training (VET) learners and teachers?“Through my traineeship, I have developed a strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to new challenges,” Ms Barsley said.

“Whether it’s managing coursework alongside peak seasons, taking initiative in extra learning opportunities, or refining my communication skills through realworld applications, I have continuously sought ways to improve and grow.”

“Since starting this traineeship, I have gained a deeper understanding of the agricultural machinery industry and built a foundation for future career growth.”

“I aim to continue developing my expertise, take on more responsibilities, and further contribute to both my workplace and the broader industry.”

Presented by Department of Education’s Training Services, the NSW Training Awards recognise outstanding achievement in the vocational education and training sector, with this year marking the 70th anniversary for the awards.

Winners from the event will go on to represent NSW in their respective categories as they are considered for the 2025 Australian Training Awards in Darwin on 5 December.
