Six artworks created by school students from across NSW were officially donated to Cowra Hospital at the launch of the “Art Express” exhibition at Cowra Library last Thursday.

“Winter Hummingbird”, “Purple Dog”, “Burger & Chips”, “Whale Watching”, “Lizard Trio”, and “Autumn Leaves” by nearby Quandialla local Monty Ryan are the artworks that were donated.

According to Cowra Hospital Manager Pauline Rowston, the artworks will be used to dress up public spaces within the hospital, and make them a more attractive place to be. The six artworks were part of 50 that are currently on display inside Cowra Library as part of Art Express - a regional art tour that displays the best works of school students in NSW. Art Express is an extension of “Operation Arts” - an initiative between Sydney’s Westmead Hospital and the NSW Department of Education, where K-10 students in NSW submit their artworks to be in the running to have them displayed in Westmead Hospital. The artworks do the Art Express tour and are then put on display at the NSW Art Gallery, before landing permanently at Westmead Hospital.

Cowra Mayor Bill West said he looked forward to seeing the donated artworks in prominence at Cowra Hospital.
