Public ANZAC Day celebrations will return to Cowra this year on Sunday. The time of year has come back around where we stop to remember and pay our respects to those who sacrificed their lives for our country, and the men and women who are still serving today. Cowra RSL Subbranch President Stephen Overman spoke with excitement about this year’s Anzac Day ceremonies. “The Veterans are excited to be able to get back into it this year, compared to the way we had to carry out last years service. Most of the subbranch members will be participating in the march.”

The proceedings will kick back into high gear this Sunday with 45 Duntroon Cadets leading the parade, including 10 of the younger cadets who will carry the flags and the members of the public who will also be joining the march. Stephen would like the community to get behind the veterans and come on down to the services. “We are urging everyone to please come down and pay their respects to the ones who have fallen, and the ones who still serve our country today. If members of the community don’t feel safe enough to come down amongst the crowd, then we encour-age them to stand at the end of their driveways once again and remember those who served.”

While we are finally able go back to an ‘almost normal’ Anzac Day proceedings, there will be QR Sign in codes at River Park. The Subbranch president hopes everyone will adhere to the Covid restrictions that remain in place.

“We would like to remind everyone to be mindful of social distancing and Covid practices, ensuring we keep everyone safe on the day.” Stephen said.

As always, their will be poppies and RSL tokens available to purchase on the day, with money raised going back to the RSL, in support of our veterans. The Anzac Day Dawn Service will commence at 5.50 am at the Cenotaph in Brisbane Street. The Parade will form up at 10.20 am and commence down Kendal Street to River Park for the Main Service.
