Community sporting groups have been given the green light to commence, prompting many adults and children alike to put their name down for their favourite summer sports. It also acts as a timely reminder to utilise the active kids vouchers available to all children aged between 4.5-18.

If eligible, parents are entitled to receive two $100 vouchers to put towards sport and active recreation costs for each child. The first voucher is valid from January through to December and the second voucher is valid from July through to December.

The vouchers go a long way in assisting parents with the costly fees associated with junior sports and recreation. The vouchers can cover the associated cost of membership fees, registration fees and participation fees, they also cover swimming lessons.

However, the voucher does not extend to uniforms, equipment or travel. It is important to remember that if parents/ guardians plan to use the vouchers, they will need to clarify that the club or sporting group they wish to enrol their child in is a registered provider. Checking for registered providers in Cowra is easy, simply search for approved providers on the Service NSW website, or reach out to the club you have in mind and ask if they accept the vouchers.

Utilising both vouchers paves the way for children to experience and participate in sports across all seasons throughout the year, opening them up to new opportunities and skill sets. Applying for an active kids voucher is an easy process through Service NSW on their website at service.nsw.gov.au.
