Hospital Auxiliary Celebrates 142 Years

On the 2nd of July, 1881 the Cowra Hospital Auxiliary was formed at a public meeting.

The Auxiliary is the oldest in NSW and every year, local volunteers have continuously raised funds to provide world-class medical equipment and facilities for the Cowra Hospital.

Since 1988, in excess of $669,700 has been donated.

President, Pat Smith, said it was a special milestone and would not have been possible without the marvellous support of individuals, the community, business, clubs and service organisations. All funds raised stay in Cowra and donations over $2 are tax deductible.

She said every six months Hospital staff are invited to submit a “wish list” for consideration. The Auxiliary then provides the funds for the purchase of vital up-to-date medical equipment; helping doctors and medical staff support patients in their care and comfort and their recovery at home. The whole community benefits.
